September 9, 2014 - Equality California has endorsed State Senator Ted Lieu in the race for Congressional District 33. Equality California is the largest statewide LGBT advocacy organization in California working to secure full and lasting equality for and acceptance of LGBT people.
EQCA Executive Director Rick Zbur said of the candidate:
"Ted Lieu has been one of the strongest allies for LGBT equality in the Statehouse, including authoring the first-in-the-nation ban on 'conversion therapy,' a dangerous and abusive practice targeting LGBT people. We need Lieu's courage and innovation on a national level, and we're proud to endorse him for Congressional District 33."
"Equality California is tireless in the fight for equal rights for the LGBT community and all Californians. I'm honored to have Equality California's support and look forward to championing civil rights legislation in Congress."
State Senator Ted Lieu's district comprises more than 80 percent of the voters in CD 33. Lieu is a long-time resident of the district, an Air Force veteran and has served time on the Torrance City Council, State Assembly and State Senate.
