Ted Lieu on the Environment
Ted Lieu is a champion for environmental protection. Ted has received 100% voting records from the California League of Conservation Voters and Environment California and, recognizing his commitment, he was named an “Environmental Champion.”
In the State Assembly, Ted has served on the Natural Resources and Water, Parks & Wildlife committees. While on the City Council, Ted was a member of the Environmental Quality & Energy Conservation Commission. As Chair of the powerful Assembly Rules Committee, Ted Lieu has led the way in greening the State Capitol by increasing recycling, purchasing environmentally friendly products, improving indoor air quality and reducing electricity and water consumption.
As Attorney General, Ted Lieu will continue to protect California’s environment and natural resources.
Global Warming
Global climate change poses a serious threat to California’s economic well-being, public health and environment. Ted is aggressively fighting to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Ted is a coauthor of AB 32, the landmark Global Warming Act of 2006, which created a statewide greenhouse gas limit to reduce emissions by 25% by 2020. This law has served to set an examples not only for other states, but other countries around the world.
“Despite what some may think, the scientific debate on Global Warming is over. And it is time to act.”
--Ted Lieu, The Daily Breeze, 1/2007
