Southern California’s Largest Law Enforcement Group Endorses Ted Lieu for Attorney General
37,000 Member Alliance Cites “Thorough Understanding” of Law Enforcement Issues
SACRAMENTO – The Ted Lieu for Attorney General campaign today announced an endorsement from one of California’s largest law enforcement organizations, the Southern California Alliance of Law Enforcement (SCALE.) They join a growing list of law enforcement organizations to endorse Lieu, including the California Police Chiefs’ Association, the El Segundo Police Officers Association, the Law Enforcement Association of Asian Pacifics, the Long Beach Police Officers Association, the Los Angeles County Professional Peace Officers Association, the Riverside Police Officers Association, the Riverside Sheriffs Association, and the Torrance Police Officers Association.
"The over 37,000 strong Southern California Alliance of Law Enforcement strongly support and endorse Ted Lieu for Attorney General in the Democratic primary," said Deputy Sheriff Floyd Hayhurst, president of SCALE. "Ted has a thorough understanding of the issues facing law enforcement, repeatedly fought for public safety, and has the diversity of experience we need in an Attorney General."
Among others, SCALE represents the Association for Los Angeles Deputy Sheriffs, the Los Angeles Police Protective League, the Anaheim Police Association, and the Santa Ana Police Officers Association. They are over 37,000 sworn officers strong.
Lieu has led California against Wall Street’s excess and is the author of the most comprehensive mortgage reform law in the country to address the mortgage and foreclosure crisis, the California Subprime Reform Act. He believes that government’s first priority is to protect its citizens, and to treat all citizens equally regardless of race or gender. Dedicated to his country, Lieu served over four years on active duty and currently holds the rank of Lieutenant Colonel in the United States Air Force Reserves as a military prosecutor and member of the JAG Corps.
