Long Beach Police Officers Association and Long Beach Mayor Bob Foster Support Ted Lieu for Attorney General
Lieu Receives Strong Support from One of the Largest Cities in California
(Long Beach, CA) - The Ted Lieu for Attorney General Campaign is proud to announce endorsements from the Long Beach Police Officers Association, Long Beach Mayor Bob Foster, and Long Beach City Councilmember Patrick O’Donnell. They join a growing list of supporters such as Los Angeles County Sheriff Lee Baca, Assemblymember Bonnie Lowenthal, the Torrance Police Officers Association, the El Segundo Police Officers Association, the Riverside Sheriffs Association, and the Los Angeles Airport Peace Officers Association.
"After interviewing all of the Democratic candidates for Attorney General, Ted Lieu was far and away the best candidate," said Steve James, President of the Long Beach Police Officers Association. "His experience as a military prosecutor and his leadership on public safety issues are what we need in our Top Cop.”
The Long Beach Police Officers Association represents more than 900 active Long Beach police officers, and they patrol the fifth largest city in California. “Ted understands the challenges that law enforcement officials face and has always made public safety a top priority,” James continued, “and because of his background in military service, Ted knows firsthand how important it is to protect and serve our communities. We are proud to endorse Ted Lieu for Attorney General."
Assemblymember Lieu has authored numerous important public safety bills, including four public safety bills signed into law this year, the most of any legislator. He has also led California against Wall Street's excesses and is the author of the most comprehensive law in the country to stem the tide of foreclosures, the California Foreclosure Prevention Act. Assemblymember Lieu believes that government's first priority is to protect its citizens.
Lieu has ascended to a key leadership post as Chair of the Assembly Rules Committee. He also served on active duty for over four years and is currently a Major in the Reserves. His combined active and reserve duty is over 15 years. Lieu’s grandfather was a police officer for over 30 years.
