Ted Lieu Lands First Major Statewide Endorsement
State Controller John Chiang Endorses Ted Lieu for Attorney General
(LOS ANGELES) - Assemblymember Ted Lieu (D-Torrance) landed the first official statewide elected endorsement for the race for Attorney General today with the backing of California State Controller John Chiang.
"Ted Lieu early on identified the subprime mortgage and foreclosure crisis as one of the catalysts for our economic downturn," said Chiang. "Over the strenuous objection of powerful interests, Ted Lieu authored and fought to get signed one of the most comprehensive laws in the nation to stem the tide of foreclosures. I am proud to endorse Ted Lieu for Attorney General."
Chiang joins a growing list of California leaders, including Los Angeles County Sheriff Lee Baca and Assemblymembers Paul Fong, Isadore Hall, Mary Hayashi, Bonnie Lowenthal and Curren Price.
"Ted Lieu has consistently stood for equality and social justice," said Chiang. "As California's next Attorney General, Ted will continue to fight for equality and protect the advancements we made in the name of civil rights."
Assemblymember Lieu has led California against Wall Street's excesses and is the author of the most comprehensive law in the country to stem the tide of foreclosures, the California Foreclosure Prevention Act. Assemblymember Lieu believes that the government's first priority is to protect its citizens.
Now in his final term in the Assembly, Lieu has ascended to a key leadership post as Chair of the Assembly Rules Committee. Dedicated to his country, Assemblymember Lieu holds the rank of Major in the United State Air Force Reserves and served on active duty for four years as a member of the JAG Corps as a military prosecutor.
